Information for convenors
The panel information has now been exported to the printed book. Convenors may continue to update their panels online, as things change, however these will not be reflected in the printed version, so you are requested to bear in mind that where possible you should stick to the order of presentations as they are in the book. At this stage the expected amendments would be setting papers to withdrawn, updating/correcting abstracts and possibly adding chairs/discussants. All of these things can be done through the login environment, 'Cocoa'.
Panel sessions may contain a maximum of four papers. If you wish to indicate how you will break up your multi-session panel, this is best done in the last line of the panel abstract. However the printed programme will only include the long panel abstract and the short paper abstracts. We would suggest using a short format such as: (Papers: 3/4/4).
SIEF does not require prior circulation of full papers. However if you wish your panel presenters to be somewhat more prepared for discussion, there is a facility within Cocoa for authors to upload PDFs of their papers alongside their abstracts, saving the need for lots of emailing of large attachments. As these PDFs will be publicly available for download from the panel page, authors should top their papers with a disclaimer, stating 'Work in progress, no citation, etc'.
In exceptional circumstances and at your request, papers may be presented in absentia; however SIEF does not encourage this and authors will have to pay the non-attending registration fee of €25.
If you have any difficulties/queries, please email congress(at)siefhome.org.
Languages: SIEF is officially trilingual, allowing presentations in English, French and German. However it is up to the decision of the panel convenors as to which languages they will accept in their panel/workshop. Certainly not all delegates will understand French or German, so those presenting in other languages should have a summary in English and possibly a print-out of the paper (in this language) for those who struggle with the oral presentation, to follow. In the first instance please contact the convenors of the relevant panel and ask them if they are happy to accept a paper in a language besides English.
Workshops
Workshops are conceptualised as practical events, guided discussions and free-format exchanges leading to specific public outputs. They may include elements of performance, exhibition materials, or interactive media displays.
